Why Bangladesh is a good UI/UX destination

UI/UX design is an integral part of the development of any software, application, or website. If the experience of the user is not satisfactory using an application, then it may seriously hamper the conversion rate. Therefore, before the development of any software, it is important to ensure a good UI/UX design. The majority of the organizations do not have their own design and development teams. So, what is a good place for taking UI/UX design services? In this article, I will discuss why Bangladesh is a good destination for UI/UX design for both local and international clients.

What is UI/UX design?

We often think that UX and UI are two interchangeable terms. User experience (UX) refers to the interaction between the user and the product. UX designer works for the user to ensure a good experience while using the product to accomplish her job. UX design can be done for physical products such as vegetable peelers or for intangible products such as software, website, and so on. The objective of a UX designer is to enhance the experience of a user to the utmost level. Therefore, it is not about how the product looks. Rather, it deals with the overall experience of the user.

On the other hand, UI design deals with the complete digital and visual parts of the product. UI design includes the color scheme, typography, button, and so on. For a great user experience, both UX and UI design is important. UX design is like framing a sculpture that is fulfilled by the UI design with proper sand, mud, and finally painting it.

Why outsourcing UI/ UX design?

There are enough reasons why organizations prefer outsourcing their technical needs such as software/ app development, UI/UX design, web design, development, and so on. Below are the benefits the organizations look for.

  • Outsourcing a company will significantly lower the cost of design and development.
  • A company can be more focused on its core business if it hires an offshore company for UI/UX or a related project.
  • There is always a tax advantage if a company uses offshore services.
  • There is no need to develop and maintain an in-house dedicated team of professionals as the offshore companies are experts in doing their jobs.

Why Bangladesh is a good place for hiring UX/UI designers

Low cost

As I have discussed above, cost minimization is a prime reason why companies outsource ICT services including UX/UI design and so on. ICT labor cost in Bangladesh is around 50% lower than other low-cost countries such as India and Vietnam. [3] For example, the hourly rate of a junior-level software designer is around $35. If you hire a designer from Bangladesh, then the cost will be around $20 for the same quality of work.

Skilled workforce

Bangladesh produces ample ICT professionals every year. More than 10,000 IT graduates are entering the ICT market in the country every year. Among them, thousands of young graduates choose web design, UI/UX design, web, and app development as their careers.  There are more than 200,000 skilled ICT workers in the country who are working in different private or offshore companies and some working as a freelancer. On top of that, more than 1,000 IT companies in Bangladesh are serving so many national and international giant companies such as SONY, IBM, and many more.

Support from the government

The Bangladesh government is supporting and subsidizing ICT companies with the tax holiday, free training, and other facilities. The government is also establishing IT parks in different places to facilitate and boost the industry.  As a result, the industry revenue is sustaining a growth rate of around 6% a year.

Local demand

Bangladesh is maintaining a great GDP over the last few years. This growth in the economy is generating so many small and medium enterprises. Thus, the demand in the local market for ICT support such as UX/UI design and software development is gradually and steadily increasing. The ICT industry in Bangladesh is not dependent on the offshore market wholly and getting a huge contribution from its own market. Therefore, it is making the industry stronger.

Bottom line

Although the IT industry in Bangladesh is relatively small compared to its competitors, the country still has so many reasons why it is a good place for UX/UI design along with 360-degree services related to software and ICT. The remarkable growth rate of the freelancing and offshore market of 27% of the country signifies that Bangladesh is a good place for outsourcing your IT support, from UX/UI design to software or app development.
